Odyssey Education and INSPE Clermont-Auvergne

A partnership to promote excellence in international education

INSPE Clermont-Auvergne partners Odyssey Education

On 24 September 2024, Odyssey Education and the Institut National Supérieur du Professorat et de l'Éducation (INSPE) of the Université Clermont-Auvergne formalised a significant strengthening of their strategic partnership. This collaboration, which began in 2022, pursues the objective of the Académie Odyssey: to support our teachers' pedagogical expertise and develop innovative training adapted to multilingual teaching in French schools abroad. A look back at a cooperation that is essential to the future of international education.

A partnership that makes sense: INSPE's expertise

The choice of INSPE Clermont-Auvergne as a key partner is no accident. The institute is renowned for its expertise in teacher training, particularly in an international context, and has established itself as a benchmark in France. Its role in preparing future teachers internationally makes it an invaluable ally for Odyssey Education, which has 12 establishments around the world. This complementarity is based on a shared vision: to offer a quality education, rooted in academic rigour while remaining open to the challenges of a globalised world.

"This partnership is in line with the Group's strategy of developing relevant partnerships to offer our teachers high-quality in-service training, enabling them to enhance their skills and offer our students excellent teaching."
Jonathan Derai Director of Institutional Relations, Odyssey Education

Concrete initiatives at the heart of this collaboration

The Odyssey Education – INSPE Clermont-Auvergne partnership has a number of key initiatives designed to support and enhance teacher training within the group.

1. Expansion of the University Diploma ‘Teaching in a French establishment abroad’ (EEFE)

This diploma is an innovative course that prepares teachers for teaching in multicultural and international contexts. Initially aimed at primary school teachers, Odyssey is now extending it to secondary school teachers in subjects such as mathematics, history-geography and physics-chemistry.

2. The launch of a new English-language course: ‘Teaching in English in an International French School’.

The aim of this course, scheduled to start in September 2024, is to prepare Odyssey’s English-speaking teachers to better understand the French education system and the specificities of bilingual teaching. By offering tailored courses to these teachers, Odyssey Education is strengthening its bilingualism strategy and its commitment to offering high-quality multilingual education.

3. Strengthening work placement opportunities for Master 2 MEEF EEFE students

Every year, Odyssey Education welcomes students on placement in its international schools. This programme enables future teachers to gain valuable field experience in excellent schools.

An innovation-focused partnership

This partnership continues to develop, with promising prospects for the years to come. Odyssey Education and INSPE Clermont-Auvergne intend to continue working together to offer ever more innovative solutions for teacher training, while strengthening links between France and the rest of the world.
